Hold'em Graph & Recent Trading

Going tighter & aggressive style. I been 6-tabling recently and playing a better ABC poker than my previously fanciful and loose style that ripped my bankroll very quickly. I find that multi-tabling makes me play tighter and lesser range of hands because good hands comes at a higher frequency, instead of single tabling where you may have to wait for so many hands before a playable one arrives.

I give myself a pause on HU-SNG & only play occasional MTTs. My bankroll is still "ranging" and I hope to go uphill soon for once.

Trading has been pretty bad lately. Been on losing streaks and on small wins. Some times I just meddle with the trades, and then regret where it should have reached take-profit, some times I regret not meddling with my trades because it went to stop-loss, and the cycle keeps on and on.

Look at the beautiful downtrend of Aud/Usd, where price resisted off 50 SMA continously. I have two long positions on-going. I am going to leave it for now. Yesterday I just cut my Eur/Usd at -30pips before it turn around and move towards my take-profit.

Will be withdrawing my remaining funds in FXDD and focus on my Oanda. FXDD has been fine, but my under-capitalised account are of no use and there is no MetaTrader available for my iMac. Oanda has an office here in Singapore and support are much convenient, even in terms of funding & withdrawing.

Happy Thanksgiving people and enjoy the weekend! Good luck!

Sweet Come Back + Oanda For BlackBerry

Oanda has finally released their trading app for BlackBerry mobile some time this week. Bottle has been enjoying his Oanda for iPhone app for the past few months already. We got to admit, app developers are more keen to make some iPhone apps because their market are huge, and their app are some times more functional than the ones created for BlackBerries. But I still love BlackBerry. I cant stand touch screen and I'm in love with a physical QWERTY keypad and push-mails. This time, I can say the Oanda app for BlackBerry is pretty decent! Here are some of the screen shots:

I was watching the price for Eur/Usd during lunch time today. Checked past days and day high and low. I know money is not free, but I hastily short at 1.4114 my first trade 2000 units. It went against me quickly all the way to 1.4133 area. Was near to day-high, I average in short again for 2000 units with 14 pips take-profit.

Price quickly rebound down to my take-profit and my first position's entry price. I didn't close the trade, still watching the movement closely. It go all the way back up to 1.4140 which was then the day high and buyer looks pretty strong. My first position was closed at stop loss -26pips.

I wanted to enter the a long on the pair when it spike to 1.4149 in split seconds, I waited for pull back, I took the third/fourth trades at 1.4141 and Aud/Usd at 1.0052. Both are like breaking resistance level to me. And London opening always give a smooth move. My target for both pairs were 1.42 & 1.01, and stop-loss at 1.41 & 1.0 respectively. I decide to let it run, and probably close them both before the New York opening, due to lotsa announcement coming.

Forexfactory is like screening landmine on the road infront of me. You need to screen for mines in the land u're walking before u proceed. Data-release are killers, I won't touch Non-Farm Payroll tomorrow because my pain is still sore from the last encounter - which was the last time I traded before today.

Sweet comeback, after my office meeting I pulled out my BlackBerry and saw the price at 1.4253 (eur/usd) and 1.0104 (aud/usd). Thats it until my exams are over. I'm looking to join Asia Pac COOP which is right after my exams, let's see how it goes.

Strange Encounter & One of Those Days

I have recently switched all my bookmarks/google-following into simply a firefox add-on call feedly. Quite cool for a feed reader. At least now I gathered all my sites which I frequently visit into a single location and then only turn on the feedly and read, instead of visiting each sites. On top of that, it synchronizes with Google Reader.

Well, here's a strange encounter I had with Oanda customer service. Oanda Asia Pacific here in Singapore conduct a bi-weekly platform training in their head-office. So I receive an email and decide to ask Bottle along. I send an email to them to register for two seats this month-end. It shd be useful. Here was the email correspondences:

Me: Hi, I'm registering for 2 seats for your 30th July session, Black and Bottle, looking forward to your confirmation.
Oanda: Dear Alan, Thank you for your interest in OANDA Asia Pacific (OAP). We are pleased to confirm your attendance for our platform training on 30th July. Looking forward to see you.

Me: Hi, This is Black, not Alan. I have registered for two seats in my previous email. Please confirm, thanks.
Oanda: Dear Black, My apologies on that. Yes, we have confirmed your attendance for tomorrow. Thank you.

Me:
In my previous email, it was 3 attendance, for 30th July, not tomorrow!!!! (exclamation mark added in this post)

That officer called me the next morning and apologize to sort things out. Well, I wasn't angry, just find it interesting. I wouldn't say the same if it's talking about funding/withdrawing my money lol.

Anyway, today I mobile traded again and got punched in the face. It seems that the market was trying to tell me to take him seriously. It's not something I can simply buy/sell while sitting in the office. I longed the cable and it went 4 pips before my take-profit and went back all the way down into the drain. I came home to recover a little bit back. But was out too early, due to fear brought in from the day.

21 Jun, Eur/Usd - Pullback & Oanda Account Approved!

A sudden big dip 30 minutes before US market opening. Long after candle closes. Price was still struggling either way. After Doji candlestick formed, taken another long position in and closes before white 10SMA line.

My Oanda Asia Pacific account has been approved! Finally, funded it but the money hasnt reached their hands, probably somewhere in the internet cable lines that need 2 working days to arrive. I had plenty of questions for their helpdesk, and they were prompt and concise, which i truly appreciate. I had plenty of questions regarding their bank transfer.

Its great to open a local broker, because i dont have to worry bank wire charges/pay pal charges and converting currencies which are taking up so much micro lots from me. I noticed there are withdrawal charges from this Oanda despite local, except if you're withdrawing into the same bank they are using (Standard Chartered). Luckily I do have one and i asked them questions again.

Therefore, conclusively, I would have no charges funding/withdrawing from Oanda Asia Pacific at all, which makes me decided to postpone my plan to fund my current FXDD account - because im running out of money.

31 May, Eur/Usd - Oanda FXGame

Im exploring Oanda now - demo. Take some time to getting used to. Firstly, i took some time to figure out the Bid Price Line which is always there fore Metra Trader, was a little confused not too sure where the price was except watching the candle stick gettin longer n shorter. I also need time getting used to see 5 decimal points lol.

Its time to explore and fix a suitable profile so that i can save it and load it up everytime i open this web-based broker. Otherwise u hv to re-set them everytime u fire up Oanda to trade.

Quiet market, did a nice scalp off 10 seconds timeframe for.. how many pips did i reap? 13 i think.

Testing Broker: Oanda (Asia Pacific) - FXGame

Testing out new platform with new broker: Oanda. Basically signed up from its subsidiary, Oanda Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, which is located here in Singapore. One good thing about Oanda, is the web-based trade (something i used to oppose) where u can execute or close your trade anything. Currency is based on SGD, or USD whichever u set it.

Signed up the life-time demo account, call FXGame. I'm still in the process of exploring the platform. I don't even know how to see the spread difference as i'm too used to using Metra Trader 4 platform.

I even tested it using my mobile to trade, it is very simple, unless u're using a very good web-based mobile phone, otherwise I wouldn't recommend to trade with it. Or else simply use it to close a trade when u're outside, or when ur internet connection is down at home. Play safe, unstable internet connection for scalpers is hell.

No hurry, lotsa time to explore. Looking to fund a live acct this mid-year, if i like it.

8 Mar, Aud/Usd - Optionetics + First Trade

Bottle called me the other day to go for a seminar, Optionetics. Its about options trading. Both of us does not have much idea about options trading, or basically not at all. The speaker was great, although it did mention about the danger of options trading, of course, it showed us all the impressive trades he had.

The talk is here in Singapore over last weekend. I bet we're the youngest attendees on the Saturday afternoon session. After discount, the lesson (if you are interested to participate) is $5,000. If you do not triple your account after six months, the $5,000 is return to you, fully. Very attractive. We didnt have that much money to start in the first place.

Well, at least we have insights on options trading, which, in turns leaves us one more investment option. We'll talk about it some day though.

Session:
London
Duration: 40 minutes.
Timeframe: 15M.
Technical: Moving average, Fibo.
Fundamental: Nil.
Strategy: Candle closes below 50SMA, 10SMA crossover 20SMA. Take profit at fibo line, stop loss behind 20SMA.

-15 pips.

The impulse of going in to get it back was here again. But i held, told myself, the analysis has been wad i was doing. Take it and we'll try again another day. Forget about how this loss stack over my NFP night last Friday, this is part of the loss in my analysis. I think i needed to wait for New York crossover session.

Q: Is FXDD Malta regulated?

A: Yes. FXDD Malta has received a category 3 license issued by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA). The MFSA is the equivalent of the SEC and the CFTC in the United States or the FSA in England. The MFSA is a very strict regulatory agency and its guidelines for operation are equal to those in other jurisdictions.

Q: What else can you tell me about why you chose Malta.

A: Since joining the European Union in 2004, the government of Malta has actively promoted the Republic’s development as a prime international business and financial center. All Financial Services businesses have been regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA)(www.mfsa.com.mt) since 2004, and subsequently under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). The combination of these regulatory structures has created a harmonized regulatory regime for investment services throughout the European Economic Area in which Malta is included.. Malta also has double taxation agreements with 46 countries worldwide and another 15 are pending. As a member of the EU, Malta also cooperates with international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). As a result, Malta enjoys an excellent reputation and track record as a forward looking international business jurisdiction. Malta was recognized in the third edition of the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI) report published in March 2008 by the City of London Corporation as one of the top three financial centers worldwide likely to increase in importance over the next two to three years. FXDD intends to be a part of that growth.

In addition to its excellent regulatory structure, Malta also offers a unique combination of Mediterranean Europe’s life and culture. Coupled with is cosmopolitan attitude toward global business, good location and temperate climate, Malta’s consistent constitutional based legal system, world class banking structure, leading edge technology infrastructure and highly educated multi lingual citizenry have made it a prime jurisdiction for many international companies. The vast majority of Malta’s citizens are at home in English and Maltese, and Italian, French and German are widely spoken. Malta was fortunate to have fared well in the recent economic downturn and enjoys a high credit rating among global credit rating agency agencies. Financial World Online noted that:

“Malta has weathered the global market turmoil and economic downturn better than most... In the World Economic Forum Competitiveness Index for 2008-09, Malta was judged to have the 10th soundest banking system among 134 countries, and came 18th for financial market sophistication.”

In 2009, Standard and Poor's maintained its stable outlook for Malta reaffirming its A/A1 credit rating, Fitch reaffirmed it’s A.

Latest Broker Announcement - FXDD.com

Good day people, guess most of active traders under US based brokers have already heard this news some time back. Our current broker, FXDD is in the process of registering with the CFTC and joining the NFA, and they are in full compliance with all applicable NFA and CFTC regulations. And Sunday November 29th, 2009 is the implementation date for the above. Cut the long story short, here are the changes:

1. Major currencies leverage will be set at 100:1; all others will have leverage of 25:1. Affected currencies for 25:1 will be the USD/TRY and the USD/MXN. Gold and silver leverage will be set at 100:1.

2. Official FXDD account statements will show position offset on a FIFO (First in, First out) basis.

3. FXDD does not recognize hedging. Oppositing orders are offset immediately. Meaning you can no longer buy and sell the same currency pair at the same time on the same primary account.

4. No more daily MetaTrader statement via email. Official daily and monthly statements will be emailed directoy from back office.

And we're suppose to download the latest compliant version of Meta Trader before the implementation date. Oh dear, if you are under a US based broker, i'm sure majority of them are being regulated. Thats what happen whenever economic bubble burst happens, everything are being regulated again... causes restriction on innovation of financial instruments.. though regulation are for the benefit of preventing another recession..

Sadly, for FXDD users, we're given such a short notice period for changes. Meaning by the time market open next week, all ur positions have to be re-calculated based on the new leverage requirements. basically, we have only 2 1/2 days to get these done. what happens if u don't? if by the time market open next Monday and u're in a position too highly leveraged, u gonna get a MARGIN CALL! << note that this word SUCKS!

Well, anyway, small players like me ain't much affected, maybe yet. but pity those bigger players. maybe this isnt happening in foreign brokers areas like London, or Switzerland. Im sure one way or another, (switching broker or altering our money management with the new leverageetc) we all will get this thru' yea.
